Pictures by What’s Cookin’ In Jeruzalem
John Statz wrote a review on his concert for What’s Cookin’ in Jeruzalem in Antwerp. You can read the full review on his blog, here’s an excerpt:
” First off was Antwerp, the former diamond capital of the world, where I was playing a house concert series called ‘What’s Cooking In Jeruzalem?’, which usually takes place in Ghent. The hosts were nice enough to move some things around for me and it was an extremely well-run and attended concert. A wonderful listening crowd and one of my favorite gigs on the tour.“
It made me laugh because it contrasts so sharply with what The Upallnights wrote last October:
“To say they were unprepared is a bit of an understatement. Our guess is that they expected a quieter acoustic performance. We started to set up the drums and soon realised there were no microphones for us to sing in. An even bigger problem was that none of us had realised that the electric wall sockets were of different standard from the ones in Germany which ment there was no power for our amplifiers. Also, there was no liquor. Things were looking pretty bad at this point… But, slowly the pieces were starting to fall into place. We got some food (served on the pavement) which got our mood up and then we found a bottle of tequila. A canadian couch-surfer who happened to be there conviently had a wall socket converter and and another Belgian fellow got us a microphone and amplifier so that our voices could be heard. It seemed like we were actually going to be able to perform after all! Some of the twenty some odd audience members had to catch the last train home and since we’d arrived pretty late, and due to all the technical commotion, we hurried to get to it so that they’d be able to hear a couple of songs at least. With now around fifteen people in the small kitchen we carried on and it developed into quite a good little concert. Weird as hell – but fun!”
You can read their review on their Myspace blog, the full review with an honourable mention for the pole-dancing lady.
(Reviews and pictures for the Charlie Jones’ Big Band and Yordiscédo will follow soonish)
One boy and his keyboard. That’s all we’re going to give away because to be honest that’s all we can tell you already. A special show in Antwerp next Sunday, be prepared to be surprised. Click on the picture to download his album for free.
Mind you! This concert will start earlier than most of our shows – show at 7 o’clock. Be a bit more informative than we are and make sure to put yourself on the list through facebook, mail or the comment section below.
Former housemate Jan will be playing next week in our kitchen in Gent on the 24th of February. Charlie Jones’ Big Band is a solid blues band. Don’t believe us, but believe the jury of the Oost-Vlaams Rock Concours (second prize) . Click on the picture to listen to their music.
Attend the event by adding yourself to the list on Facebook. No Facebook? Send us an email or comment below.
We’ve set a date for the Horses show: on the 12th of March they will be playing in Antwerp.
Click on the picture below to go to their Myspace page.
In the meantime we have a couple of shows in Ghent, but because we don’t want to keep the Antwerp audience waiting until March, we’re looking for an artist or band who would want to play in Antwerp and would be available preferably on Friday the 26th of February. Can’t make it that day, mail us, perhaps we can work something else out.
